It was in 1358 Nicolò Biagio da Vitorchiano who built the sanctuary on land owned by Feneguerra, and, following the desire expressed by the parish priest, who, in 1319, had made a trip to Puglia on the Gargano in the places dedicated to S. Michele, the church was dedicated to the saint. The Church of San Michele Arcangelo stands on a hill outside the town, and can be reached through the Porta Tiberina, along the “piagge”.
The former Church of San Rocco, now used as a youth center, given the architectural characteristics, is attributable to the sixteenth century. But in no way detracts from the possible construction of the building on an earlier date.
The construction of the church dates back to 1556, the year of the pontificate of Pius V. The structure was entrusted to the Confraternity of Mercy, aggregated to the Compagnia della Misericordia of Rome in 1567.
The church of Santa Maria Assunta was consecrated in 1533 by the bishop of Bagnoregio, Monsignor Pastorelli but already in 1458 the bell tower was renovated and in 1474 the “divae Mariae walls” were repaired and maintained.
On the origin of the Church of Sant’Antonio da Padova in Vitorchiano it is known that the construction took place in 1793, the year in which the adjacent Franciscan convent was also built. The church is located outside the city, in a place called “Il Conventino”, at a distance of 600 m from the historic center.
The church of Sant’Antonio Abate was founded in 1406 with the approval of the “Chapter of the Canons of St. John” and with the authorization, by the same Chapter, to build bell towers, cemetery, altar, baptismal font and the right to elect chaplain and Rector.
The first certain news of the church of San Pietro dates back to April 14, 1202, deduced from a deed of donation by the presbyter, prior and rector of the church of San Pietro, who donated the aforementioned church to Stefano Abbot of the monastery of S. Silvestro in You understand in Rome.
The decision to erect a new church dedicated to the Holy Trinity on the site of a pre-existing building was deliberated by the municipal council of Vitorchiano in 1476. To meet the construction costs, a one-year gabelle was used, which was then extended until 1479.
The Church of the Madonna di San Nicola and the adjoining monastery were built in the second half of the 15th century. The new structure was consecrated and dedicated to the Madonna di San Nicola on 10 May 1533.
