The fountain and the whole monumental complex in honor of the fallen of all wars located in Piazzale Umberto I, is the result of a complex change that the previous monuments to the fallen of the wars made in Vitorchiano and definitively merged into the monument in the 90s underwent existing today.

Vitorchiano | Moai

MOAI

The work, a giant six meters tall statue in peperino stone that reproduces the anthropomorphic monoliths of Easter Island “I Moai”, was built in Vitorchiano in 1990 by eleven Maori of the Atan family, originally from Rapa Nui. This statue represents the only Moai sculpture in the world present outside Easter Island.

Vitorchiano | Via Ugolini

VIA UGOLINI

Via Ugolini in Vitorchiano is the street that leads from piazza della SS. Trinità leads, through a narrow alley, to a second door subsequently opened in the walls and which allows direct passage from the village to the external squares, used only for parking purposes. So named in the twentieth century in honor of the historian Biagio Ugolini, given the particular interest the historian who lived from 1702 to 1775 gave to Jewish culture and given that from the sixteenth century to the seventeenth century the street was the Vitorchiano ghetto.

WALLS – Cinta Muraria

The walls, presumably erected in the thirteenth century to defend the village, extend for 250 meters on three sides, with a height ranging between 10-12 meters.
